Materials development


The objective is the development of ceramic and polymeric based membrane contactors and permeators for CO2 capture at the defined process conditions and selected environments.

Research will focus on

  • achieving highly hydrophobic surface properties to prevent the entry of the liquid absorbing media into the porous ceramic structure.
  • testing and optimization of a high performance facilitated transport polymer material for CO2/N2 separation in LNG flue gases
  • preparation of graphene and graphene oxide (GO) coatings on membranes along with CO2-philic agents for highly efficient CO2 capture
