The objective is the development of ceramic and polymeric based membrane contactors and permeators for CO2 capture at the defined process conditions and selected environments.
Research will focus on
- achieving highly hydrophobic surface properties to prevent the entry of the liquid absorbing media into the porous ceramic structure.
- testing and optimization of a high performance facilitated transport polymer material for CO2/N2 separation in LNG flue gases
- preparation of graphene and graphene oxide (GO) coatings on membranes along with CO2-philic agents for highly efficient CO2 capture
