DNV is based at the DNV Station in Piraeus Greece. DNV provides classification, certification and expert maritime advisory services, including consulting, engineering, software and training, as well as Research and Development activities in close collaboration with the Greek shipping industry. DNV conducts research and development to acquire knowledge, to develop new services, and to create value for the company and our customers. We have strong competence on modelling, simulation and optimization of integrated ship machinery systems, introducing formally systems engineering in shipping, and developing the innovative computer platform COSSMOS. The DNV COSSMOS library contains a wide list of component models of ship machinery systems, from spatially distributed dynamic systems to even zero-dimensional steady-state forms, allowing the development of system models of different accuracy level fit-to-purpose for their intended use. DNV's R&D has built also competence in technologies for low carbon/energy shipping, alternative fuels, and hybrid systems.
