The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) is owned and operated by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). NETL supports DOE’s mission to advance the national, economic, and energy security of the United States. NETL has sites in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Texas, Oregon, and Alaska. In total, these sites include 117 buildings and 14 major research facilities on nearly 242 acres with more than 1,100 employees. NETL implements a broad spectrum of energy and environmental research and development programs that will return benefits for generations to come. NETL has expertise in coal, natural gas, and oil technologies, contract and project management, analysis of energy systems, and international energy issues. NETL’s Research and Innovation Center (RIC) operates with federal management and a core scientific staff at locations in Pennsylvania, Oregon, and West Virginia. NETL has demonstrated extensive experience in the development and experimental characterization of materials and modules for Carbon Capture. Furthermore, the comprehensive, integrated suite of validated science-based computational models developed in-house under the Carbon Capture Simulation Initiative (CCSI), are a significant asset to the cutting-edge research in this area.
